History & Mission
Begun as a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia to the southwestern part of the city and county of Roanoke in 1958, today St. Elizabeth’s is a vibrant small parish in a bustling neighborhood. Like our patron saints, St. Elizabeth of the bible, John the Baptist's mother, and St. Elizabeth of Hungary, a medieval noblewoman who dedicated her life to those who were ill, suffering, and poor. We are known for:
1. the radical welcome we extend to our honored guests, newcomers, visitors, and strangers alike,
2. our deep sense of worship and prayer.
3. our fellowship with and support of one another,
4. our concern for the world beyond our doors, and
5. our perseverance and determination.
Dedicated to "loving and serving the Lord, our neighbors, and one another, as God loves us" we seek to witness to the new life our redemption in Jesus Christ makes possible.
We would be honored and blessed if you were to share your journey in faith with us.
Affectionately,
Richard +
